We can't wait to get back to our activities soon!
We can't wait to get back to our activities soon!

In January, we reported that schools would potentially open in March, but this unfortunately didn’t happen, because the end of year celebrations caused a significant increase in Covid-19 cases in Peru. Since the beginning of the year, restrictions have changed on a bi-weekly basis, but schools remain closed.

At least the academic year started again in mid-March, so children are back to their home-schooling routines. We are staying abreast of the government announcements and we hope that the doors of La Pagina en La Puerta will be able to open again soon.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Unfortunately, all schools, education centers, and programs like ours remain closed throughout Peru, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It has now been almost an entire year since Peru’s lockdown first began, and our students and community members have had to adjust to online learning and a new lifestyle, alongside the entire world.

However, the good news is that the last official government update indicated that schools would begin opening in March of this year, with proper protocols in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. As long nothing changes in the coming months and this remains true, we should be allowed to open La Pagina en La Puerta’s doors to our students once more. We are remaining optimistic and hope that our next update will bring you good news!

For now, thank you for your continued support!

The doors of La Pagina en La Puerta are still closed, due to government regulations in Peru aiming to protect as much of the population as possible from Covid-19. All schools and after-school programmes are closed and only operating virtually. While we know our regular library-attendees are eager to get out of their homes and come visit us again, it is best for everyone to stay home until the situation improves.

We have seen the numbers of cases dropping in Cusco, which is a good sign, but we do not expect to be allowed to open again until next year at the earliest. We will be sure to keep you updated. For now, we hope you are all safe and healthy!

The circumstances regarding COVID-19 are affecting the entire world, and La Pagina en La Puerta is no exception.  After more than 9 weeks, the entire country of Peru is still under mandatory lock-down and quarantine, meaning we’ve had to close La Pagina’s doors until further notice. Our children and staff are home with their families, as all schools and most places of work have also been suspended.

We want to keep the kids in our community safe, so we will abide by government guidelines and asses the situation in the coming weeks and months to determine when we can re-open our doors. The children will be anxious to get out of their homes to visit us, read books at the library, and play games. We cannot wait to welcome them!

We will open our doors back up as soon as we can, and we hope that our next report brings news of our re-opened facilities and re-booted activities. For now, please keep yourselves and your families healthy.
