Dear donor,
The Instituto Fazendo História extends its heartfelt gratitude for your support of the Famílias Acolhedoras project. Your generosity has profoundly impacted the lives of the children we serve.
Our work plays a vital role in the development of children aged 0 to 6 and their biological families, who are temporarily facing social vulnerabilities and have had their children temporarily removed from their care.To ensure these children receive personalized care in a nurturing family environment, we have prepared Foster Families. These families are ready to provide affection, security, and emotional support during challenging times, offering positive experiences and valuable support to fostered children.
We’d like to share a recent story that highlights the importance of our work, which prioritizes family bonds, affection, and care.
Recently, we welcomed two siblings, Maria and João, aged one and a half and three years old, both from Paraguay. They were taken into our care due to the hardships and social vulnerabilities faced by immigrant families in Brazil.
Their parents, Paraguayan immigrants, were working in substandard conditions for meager wages and living in overcrowded, unsanitary housing known as cortiços. This family’s story is marked by structural violence and the lack of preparedness of professionals to handle families from different cultures with empathy.
Despite these challenges, Maria and João are amazing, autonomous, and loving children, reflecting the deep affection and care from their parents. The foster family that took them in quickly grew fond of them, sharing many moments of bonding, partnership, and affection. Outings and memorable moments have left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
The parents, always present during visits, made the most of this time with playful activities and demonstrations of love and care. With the support of the Instituto's technical team and our donors, this family was able to quickly reorganize and regain custody of their children, who are now back where they belong.
Your continued support is crucial to our mission of empowering these families and ensuring the holistic development of the children. This includes creating emotional memories and providing emotional security while legal processes are handled.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Your generosity not only protects and supports the children but also strengthens their biological families as they face complex challenges and situations of violence.
