Dear donor,
We would like to share news about the project you supported one year ago and tell you we decided to reactivate it due to its importance and impact for the full development of babies and young children who needed to be seprated from theis families.
To refresh your memory, this project offers foster care for children between 0 and 6 years old who had their rights somehow violated. Our foster care program work began in 2015 and aims to strengthen the quality of care offered in early childhood and minimize the consequences of the institutionalization process, believing in foster families as the best strategy for this age group.
We know that the gains for children who are in foster families are immeasurable, but there are also advantages for society as a whole. Investing in early childhood is investing in a better future. This is why we urgently need to raise awareness and disseminate the culture of the Foster Family throughout Brazil. Since we started, we have taken in 78 children, published a guide to help other family foster care programs, a children's book, and held seminars nationwide to multiply our work methodology.
Even with the Covid 19 pandemic and the need for social isolation, we continue executing of all the planned actions and building new strategies to ensure the continuity of our work. Despite all the difficulties that the present moment presents, we keep strong in our mission to provide quality care for children who need love and care in the most difficult moments of their lives.
Finally, we would like to share the testimony of a foster family after their first fostering experience:
Being a Foster Family in the middle of a Pandemic seemed like a distant and difficult project. Since our first contact with the IFH team we could notice the seriousness and commitment of the work. Due to the great demand of children in vulnerability, the IFH team did a very intense and deep work with the new Foster Families. We opened our home in September 2020 and in a few days we were already fostering a baby. He arrived so small, but so open to receive our care and affection. We were together for 68 intense days and we enjoyed every moment!. While we took care of the little one, the team did a brilliant job with his biological family, besides giving all the support we needed. Guilherme went back to his biological family, who love him so much. How were we when he left? With our arms empty, but with our hearts full of gratitude and hope that Guilherme left feeling loved, and that his experience with us will serve as a matrix for his development. We have no words to express how grateful we are for this experience and for being part of this beautiful Project! We can't wait to have another child in our arms to be impacted by us and to equally impact our lives. Flávia Palmierri Villar - Foster Family
Thank you very much,
Daniela and Making History Institute Team
