The Atlantic Forest is one of the biomes richest in biodiversity and, at the same time, one of the most threatened. Production and restoration using native species are essential to ensure ecological recovery and the maintenance of essential environmental services.
Donations through GlobalGiving have contributed to the production of seedlings of native species of the Atlantic Forest biome. From this, we have been able to produce more than 1,500 seedlings in our nursery, which were directed to forest restoration projects to recover the Atlantic Forest, preserving the ecological identity of the biome and favoring the local fauna that depends on these plants for shelter and food.
These species are better adapted to soil and climate conditions, increasing the chances of success in regenerating degraded areas. Another crucial point is the role of native species in conserving water resources and acting to contain erosion and sequester carbon, combating climate change.
