In September 2022, a violent flood hit a significant part of the Marche region in central Italy, particularly affecting the provinces of Ancona and Pesaro-Urbino.
The calamitous event resulted in 13 deaths, 50 injuries, hundreds of displaced individuals, and damages exceeding 2 billion euros.
The Specchio d'Italia Foundation promptly intervened, assisting the swift recovery of 50 small businesses (bakers, farmers, bar owners, newsstand operators, etc.) with financial support.
Subsequently, it became possible to support the dreams of 20 young residents of Marche in the flooded municipalities, providing varying sums based on the needs and complexity of their study or work projects.
The foundation is continuing to monitor the proper utilization of these resources.
