Cambodia is hot and dry at this time of the year. The water sources such as natural lakes, canals, or ponds are dried up. The farmers face water shortages for their agriculture production, especially, vegetable project production. The main activities of this reporting period involved assisting the farmers to combat this challenge. ODOV provided training on agriculture adaptation techniques to project participants including soil and water management, crop diversification, and crop rotation. A total of 50 target households (32 women) were in attendance. Participating in this training program makes the farmers more adapted to climate vulnerability.
In addition to providing training, ODOV staff continued conducting field follow-up visits for the project participants to provide mentoring and coaching for them on production activities and raising awareness about gender equality as well. A total, of 50 target households (32 women) who grow vegetables and raise chickens benefit from the extension service provided by ODOV project staff. These households acquired resources knowledge and skills to grow their food for daily consumption and earn extra income from selling the surplus food produced to support their livelihoods.
