The primary activity of implementing the project during this reporting period is similar to the previous reporting period involving ODOV staff conducting field follow-up visits for target households to provide additional technical support as required. A total of 50 target households (32 women) who grow vegetables and raise chickens benefit from the extension service provided by ODOV. Through the support from the project, these households acquired enough knowledge and skills to grow their own food to increase their household’s food security and livelihoods.
Within the last three months, a total of 11,250 vegetables and 450kg of chicken meats were produced by these individual households. Approximately 60% of the food produced (vegetables and chicken meats) was consumed by the individual household, the surplus food produced had been sold for income to support their families, and on average a household earned an additional income of $60 from selling the surplus food produced. These households still continue to grow vegetables and raise chickens to improve their livelihoods. Each household grow at least five variety of vegetates and raised 8 hens, two rosters, 28 adult chickens and 65 chicks. ODOV project will continue to provide additional technical support to them as needed.
With offering regularly technical support by ODOV has enabled the farmers acquired knowledge and skills to successfully produce own food to meet their household’s needs.
