Food Angel has recently launched the "Hearty Cook-Chill Meals Express" scheme, bringing timely meal support to elderly people with mobility difficulties or urgent needs.
By combining Food Angel’s cook-chill meal production and smart fridges with Keeta’s intelligent dispatch and delivery network, together with frontline social welfare network, the programme addresses the “last mile” of meal support and helps elderly people age safely at home.
The adoption of cook-chill meals also removes the time constraints associated with traditional hot meal services. Beneficiaries can store meals at home and heat them when convenient, offering greater flexibility, dignity and choice.
The initiative establishes a sustainable, cross-sector food-assistance ecosystem that brings together food production technology, smart logistics, digital dispatch and community-based social services. It provides transitional meal support to help elderly people remain safely in their own homes, advancing the vision of “ageing in place.”
The three-month pilot is now running in Sheung Shui and Sham Shui Po, delivering meals twice a week to support around 100 elderly beneficiaries.
