In Kenya, the school year is winding down, but for our lunch program, that means even more children will be coming to the Library for a daily lunch. During the school year, a daily lunch is served to the Grade 9 students at our three Focus Schools. When the scool year ends, the rising Grade 9 students begin their lessons, preparing them for the new school year beginning in January. The thing that swells our lunch program when school is on break is that we ensure every child who is at the Library when lunch is served will be fed.
When school is not in session, the Library is filled with children- the younger siblings of the rising Grade 9 students, the Grade 9 students who just completed our Prep for Success Program, secondary school studetns who return to the Library to volunteer as tutors and who get academic support as well. Children from other surrounding schools who don't come to the Library on a regular basis flock to the Library campus for fun and learning things to do.
The need for funds to support our Lunch Program remains high!
