This project supports the 100 homeless, poor and downtrodden in and around Puducherry, India to have a meal in a day. Due to the pandemic, the economic situation is very bad and there are many people who lost their job and the economic situation is very bad. Homeless People living on pavements do not have food
We see people in Puducherry living in slums, sick people and children dwelling on pavements and families who lost their jobs are finding it hard to get at least one meal for a day. There are plenty of old and sick people begging at the Bus Station and Railway Station, in front of temples, churches and mosques with empty stomachs. We also observe that the current study in rural Puducherry showed that about 17.9% of elderly were malnourished and about 58.7% of elderly was at risk of malnutrition.
Prime Trust is planning to provide one nutritious meal every day to the elderly, sick and children. It will be distributed to the places where the people are assembled. Also, the excess food will be collected from the celebrations and will be distributed to the needy. By providing healthy food, we could reduce malnourishment to some extent.
Unemployed people begging on the streets will be trained to prepare food for others with a decent wage and rehabilitate them to the mainstream. We will also provide them vocational training so that they can lead an independent life.
