The new school year in Bosnia and Herzegovina began on September 1, and another year of our School Lunch Program is now underway.
To mark the beginning of the school year, I visited Primary School Zahid Barucija in Vogošca, one of the first schools Charity Bosnian Kids began working with. Being there on the first day of school, surrounded by students and families, was a meaningful reminder of how long this program has been part of children’s school days.
During my visit, I met with the school principal to finalize the arrangements for this year’s school lunches. Charity Bosnian Kids is also coordinating with our other partner schools and local suppliers to ensure that the program runs smoothly. In addition, we are currently working on arrangements with two new schools that we hope to welcome to the program this school year.
Most importantly, children at our participating schools have already started receiving their daily school lunches.
Some of the children we support have been part of the program for several years. It is wonderful to see how much they have grown and to know that, thanks to our donors, we have been able to provide consistent support throughout such an important part of their childhood.
A school lunch may seem like a small part of the day, but it means one less thing for a child to worry about. It allows them to focus on learning, spend time with their classmates and simply enjoy their school day.
To everyone supporting this project through GlobalGiving, thank you. Your donations are already making a difference this school year by helping us provide daily school lunches with consistency and dignity.
We are grateful to have you with us for another school year.
