Status Report

Project summary:

The project was considered due to most affected area by poverty stricken where in many outreached children no access to education and suffering male nutrition since long. Considering the underlying factors this project will establish 10 Non-Formal schools cum library for disadvantaged children to provide free education in remote areas at Kurigram Sub-District in Bangladesh providing nutritious food & biscuit to 200 malnourished poor children. The project aim to build a school cum library well equipped with necessary books and critical literacy support to 200 poor outreach children. The project plans to fulfilling the nutritional requirements of school-going children and establishing children's right to education.

Project Objective:

The broader objective of the project is to help and support 200 outreach disadvantaged children in rural Bangladesh to facilitate education, nutritional requirements and establish children rights.

Targeted Beneficiaries:

Targeted beneficiaries determined by the geographical area in which a project is located who benefit from a project. The target beneficiaries within the project localities will be primarily comprised of boys and girls children households, who are the most affected by poverty stricken has given the highest priority of the project. The children age to be considered ranging from 06-11 years.

Project Need:

 Northwest part of Bangladesh is still acknowledged one of the poorest areas in the country. Kurigram District is located in the Northwest part of Bangladesh. The District with 09 Sub-District, covers 2, 28,800 hectors of land (2290 sq. km) the population of the District is 2.3 million. Landless (cultivating less than 0.50 acres) and marginal (cultivating between 0.51 to 1.50 acre) farmers account for 45% and 19% households respectively. Small farmers (1.51 acres to 2.50 acres) represent a further 11% household. The average size of the household is around 5.7 persons. The labour Force is predominantly/ agricultural and it is as high as 8% this labor force suffers from a high level of underemployment.

 No access of education especially for those who are out reach children. Their role is considered to be that of caretakers and child rears and education would make not benefit to families these are the typical mentality of people living in the villages.

(1)    The present education does not generate or fortify the type of knowledge that is relevant to our changed society.

 (2)    Technology associ­ated with a particular body of knowledge is inappropriate to our stage of development in terms of its employment potential or investment de­mands.

 (3) Education has failed to provide value framework which may prepare committed politicians, bureaucrats, technocrats, and professionals on whom our nation can depend for sophisticated system of support serv­ices to be useful in taking the country to the highest level.

 Targeted Outcomes & Measurement

      10 non-formal school cum library functional

     200 learners has been enrolled

     Provided Necessary nutritional food packages

     Addressed children rights issues

     Provided school dress and bags

     10 qualified teachers have been deployed from local communities

     Vertical and horizontal linkage established with government line department of education.

     Necessary books to be channeled by the Government Education Department for 2023 year.

     Regular follow-up and monitoring system has been developed and functional.

     Nutritious biscuits from World Food Programme (WFP) have been communicated

The project Approaches mainly focused on;

The approach of the project is prominent in a development program that aims to reduce malnutrition provided with fortified biscuits and mixed food and ensure quality education by established 10 non-formal schools cum library in the communities. Child Protection under this project VIEW focuses on holistic development of children its protection and rights, following interventions are planned over the time:

 Derive child rights education and protection awareness at different levels and different stakeholders.

  • Development of safe learning places for children at schools, hospitals, and community centers.
  • Children confidence building programs, walks, sessions, campaigns, and trainings.
  • Development of children groups and developing leadership skills in them.

 Activities progressed during the period:

(K) Establish Non-Formal Primary School cum Library for the Children:

Our society is moving towards an unknown future. The crises that the contemporary society is encountering are likely to increase in their fre­quency and intensity. With rising population and dwindling resources, our country has to face new problems. To meet the challenges of this fu­ture, we will need knowledge and skills that may contribute to problem-solving capacity not only in the fields of science and technology but also in the fields of human relations and management. Unfortunately, the education system today is decaying more and more instead of re­sponding creatively to the challenges of contemporary predicament. We need to reset our priorities. Considering the underline factors the project has been established 10 Nos Non-Formal Primary School cum Library in the proposed areas that will help to educate learners with equipped library with books and periodic aiming to bring them long-term sustainable learning approaches. The project aim to educate centered base education at the vicinity composed of 20 learners for each learning center. Total enrolled Learners are 200 of which 60% girls.Due to shortage of funding it was not possible to provide food/fortified biscuits and dress for learners.

Project Monitoring and Followup:

Monitoring is a continious proces of the organisation.The project have developed a management information systen to collect field status,findings and problems are associated with the project within the time frame are care carefully discussed,problems are threashedout and actions was chartered.

Conclusion and appeal: The project interventions we have been just started from early November,2022 and continued according to project plan. Some activities have been just started and while others activities will also be taken into consideration to implement. Budgetary funding is necessary to implement the programmes as possible. This project would not have been possible without the kind support and help of donors, friends and any individuals. To support the project fund raising is continued and we hope that all the people who have willingly would like to extend their support to the project as they like best.Their generosity will makes a huge difference in the lives of many targeted peoples.
