Educational Support for Deaf and Blind Children

FOOD AND EDUCATIONAL RELIEF FOR DEAF AND BLIND CHILDREN
Many deaf and blind children in the Central Region live in isolation, excluded from other children in the community. Some of these young children are able to attend school whiles many others are not able to enroll. There are a lot of misconceptions and stigmas about deaf and blind people particularly children and they are often ignored and even hidden. Because of this, deaf and blind children, both in and out of school, have very few opportunities to play sports for their personal development, and rarely play with other non-deaf and non-blind kids. ANOPA Project promotes the inclusion and empowerment of the deaf and blind children within the Central Region through sports particularly swimming.
Through our project FOOD AND EDUCATIONAL RELIEF FOR DEAF AND BLIND CHILDREN many deaf and blind children continue to receive varied support. Some of these supports include the provision of educational materials such as school uniforms, exercise books, edible provisions, mentoring, payment of their PTA Levies among others.
Many of these vulnerable students are also supported to come to school whenever school reopens as many are so deprived that even transportation to school becomes a challenge.
Apart from the provision of their food and educational needs, beneficiaries are again encouraged to take part in sport that include swimming, soccer, volley, basketball among other recreational games. Their inclusion in these sporting activities has contributed immensely to the overall situation of the kids including the following
- increase interaction between deaf and blind children and their peers in the community, to promote inclusion and create awareness and understanding in the Central Region about the power of these youths.
- Empower deaf children and blind children, build their confidence and teach them to set and work towards their own goals.
- Inspire deaf and blind youths by introducing them to deaf and non -deaf students from the University of Cape Coast who may act as role models.
Going forward we hope to receive more of your charitable donations in order to broaden our scope of support to other deaf and blind children. ANOPA Project is committed to contributing positively and immensely to the plight of deaf and blind children within Cape Coast Region of Ghana.
