VIDA Warehouse Ready for Shipping
VIDA closed out 2019 with another great year. VIDA made 24 shipments carrying over $22 million in aid. Many of these shipments represent a new partnership being led by Peru’s Ministry of Health who is spearheading an effort to upgrade and increase the number of beds available in Peru's hospital system. To that end, VIDA sent over 300 beds in 2019 along with 135 gurneys and 250 exam tables. Of course, this is in addition to the hundreds of pallets of medical supplies and hospital equipment that VIDA sends every year to Peru. 2020 looks to be another strong year as we already have 4 containers carrying 120 ICU hospital beds ready for shipment.
A major cost in this project is the ocean freight from Oakland to Callao. GlobalGiving donors play an important role in making these shipments possible. The people of Peru and VIDA thank you for your continued generosity. We look forward to building upon our great success in 2020.

VIDA Responds to Peru's Growing Need for Help!
By Adam See | Executive Director
We thank you for your past and future support as we continue to aid the most vulnerable people in Peru. The natural disasters that have struck Peru over the past three years has devastated the most vulnerable communities in Peru. We work with a variety of hospitals and small clinics - providing hospital beds, exam tables and other much needed equipment and supplies. We partner with Peru’s Ministry of Health to bring medical aid to benefit thousands of families all year long. Our work in responding to natural disasters at times can overshadow our 28 years of work helping poor people who lack access to basic healthcare. Our latest shipments to Peru have focused on helping children who suffer debilitating physical disabilities. Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood. Approximately 2 per 1,000 infants in developed countries are born with the condition. Sadly, for many of these children it is a tragic short life magnified by abandonment. Due to the generous donations from California Children Services and Kaiser Permanente, VIDA has received over 500 pieces of equipment to aid in the care and development of these children. These items which often cost in the thousands of dollars would be beyond the means of the children of Peru.
We are very excited to announce that the State of California's Rehab hospital in Sonoma has donated the entire contents of its 125 bed facility. Specialized beds, gurneys , walkers, wheelchairs, and other equipment are being loaded into 4 shipping containers over the next month.

Dear Friends,
We thank you for your past and future support as we continue to aid the most vulnerable people in Peru. Developing economies face enormous short and long-term challenges in building out their healthcare infrastructure in impoverished communities.
The flooding that has struck Peru over the past three years has devastated the most vulnerable communities in Peru. We work with a variety of hospitals and small clinics - providing hospital beds, exam tables and other much needed equipment and supplies. We partner with Peru’s Ministry of Health and generous transportation and logistics by Otis McAllister Inc.to bring medical aid to benefit thousands of families all year long. Our work in responding to natural disasters at times can overshadow our 28 years of work helping poor people who lack access to basic healthcare. Our latest shipment to Peru is focused on helping children who suffer debilitating physical disabilities. Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood. Approximately 2 per 1,000 infants in developed countries are born with the condition. Sadly, for many of these children it is a tragic short life magnified by abandonment. Due to the generous donations from California Children Services and Kaiser Permanente, VIDA has received over 75 pieces of equipment to aid in the care and development of these children. These items which often cost in the thousands of dollars would be beyond the means of the children of Peru.
We are very excited to announce that the State of California's Rehab hospital in Sonoma has donated the entire contents of its 125 bed facility. Specialized beds, gurneys , walkers, wheelchairs, and other equipment are being loaded into 4 shipping containers.
