Between July and November 2021, the Adjumani district experiences unusuable highest amount of rainfall and the resulting floods. Roads, Bridges and houses were destroyed by the heavy rainfalls. Refugees were specially vulnerable given many of them live on make shift structures of tents. Hundred others were forced to abandon their houses as the potential threat of houses collapsing on them.
VFH Uganda along with UNHCR responded to provide emergency shelter and non food items to those affected. Since December 2021, the area has experienced high sunshine and the communities have been supported to get back to their plots of land.
VFH Uganda is now focusing on helping communities deal more with the stress and related anxiety as they transition back to their plots and therefore this particular project is no longer necessary.
