In December 2015 our area of operation was overrun with the worst floods in 100 years. Homes and belongings were washed away. Luckily we had funds available to purchase blankets.
Previously our biggest problem was a lack of water in the area causing hardship for land owners and our mothers who depend on working the land
We distributed thousands of blankets. A blanket can keep a family warm at night. We also distributed food.
We need to rebuild our fund for 2016 in the event of a similar weather event. We have just opened our new Rural Development Centre. In the event of flooding next year this can temporarily accommodate many families.
