The heavy rainfall in mid August this year caused devastating floods in southern part of Nepal . Floods completely paralyzed normal life of millions of people and left them homeless. They are facing lots of difficulties in their basic amenities to live alive. Floods in this season and many cases of causalities has become like a regular thing every year. JWAS is working to to mitigate the sufferings through immediate & long term support to the affected families.
Many parts of Nepal faced continuous rain from 8-14th August, 2017. That was heavy rainfall and the lakes breached and flooded the habitations in southern part of Nepal. People have lost their houses and belongings. Low land of these districts remained under water with no electricity, communication and transportation system for several days. They need relief packages to survive, to regroup their energies and to re-build the damaged houses and come into the life again.
This project as an immediate relief & support is helping the victims to get the food & water packets, clothes, Toiletries, Mats, bed sheets, pillow, Basic medicinal kit (fever, headache, diarrhea pills, balm) etc. After immediate relief & support phase, this project will work on long-term recovery support including flood resilient community facilities.
This project will support flood victims to fight against the scenario created by the floods every year. In long term, sustainable livelihood and disaster risk reduction interventions will take place in the areas of flood affected communities and the families.
