Flood Relief for Children & Families in Srilanka

Summary:
We are grateful to share that HELPING CHILDREN INC has successfully raised $3,416 from 9 donors through GlobalGiving for our emergency flood relief project in Sri Lanka. With this initial support, we have begun early-stage response efforts to assist vulnerable children and families affected by severe flooding.

Progress to Date:
Thanks to donor contributions, we have initiated the following actions:

• Coordinated with local partners and community leaders in affected areas
• Identified priority locations and the most vulnerable families
• Begun procurement planning for emergency relief supplies
• Conducted preliminary needs assessments to ensure targeted support

This initial funding allows us to take the first critical steps toward delivering life-saving assistance.

How Funds Are Being Used:
The first phase of funds is being allocated toward:

• Preparation and sourcing of emergency food packs
• Procurement of clean water supplies and hygiene kits
• Planning logistics for distribution to affected communities

Distributions will begin shortly as procurement is finalized.

Challenges:
While we have made important progress, the scale of the disaster remains significant. Thousands of families are still in urgent need, and additional funding is required to expand our response and reach more affected children.

Next Steps:
In the coming weeks, we will:

• Distribute food, clean water, and hygiene kits to affected families
• Provide clothing and essential supplies for children
• Support temporary shelter needs where possible
• Continue fundraising efforts to expand relief coverage
