Our fish farming project in the Democratic Republic of Congo is currently in its preparation and fundraising phase. With a goal of US$45,000, the project aims to help small-scale farmers access practical aquaculture training, quality fingerlings and affordable feed while creating livelihood opportunities for young people and women. US$0 has been raised so far, and field implementation has not yet begun. Trainers and learners are currently being identified as we prepare for the next stage of the project.
The need is significant. Local farmers face challenges including limited access to technical knowledge, quality fingerlings, affordable feed, financing and adequate post-harvest storage. Our planned approach is designed to address these barriers while strengthening local fish production and contributing to affordable nutrition and household income. At this stage, these are our intended outcomes, not results already achieved.
We are grateful to GlobalGiving for helping us share this initiative with an international community of supporters. We now invite donors, foundations and partners to help us reach our US$45,000 goal and move from preparation to implementation. We will continue to report honestly on our progress, including the number of trainers and learners identified, activities completed, beneficiaries reached and funds raised.
Thank you to everyone supporting this vision. Together, we can help grow fish, livelihoods and futures in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
