Because of generous supporters like you, we can serve quality healthcare services to thousands of mothers, children, and families living in the underserved communities of the rural region of Kirindi, Uganda. Project Location and Reach

The OneMama International Health Center is located in Kirindi and is accessible to all vulnerable communities in this small Ugandan region. Inaugurated in 2008, the health center provides quality primary care to more than 50,000 children (0-15 years old), mothers, fathers, and families from low-income households living on less than $1.25 daily.

Current Services

• Availability: 100% of medical services are currently available.
• Operating Hours: Patient service hours are from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. Birthing services are available 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Services Provided

The clinic continues to offer a range of health prevention programs and medical services, including:

• Outpatient consultations
• Pre- and post-natal care
• Cold and flu treatment
• Family planning
• Malaria testing and treatment
• STD, parasite, and fungal treatment
• Dental care
• Vaccinations
• Emergency services
• Laboratory services
• Nutrition programs
• Pharmacy services
• Upcoming: Ultrasound services
• Staff training programs

Impact

Since 2008, the center has served approximately 1,000-1,500 monthly patients. The areas with the highest patient flow are:

• Pre- and post-natal care and pregnancy services
• Malaria testing and treatment
• Pediatric consultations
• Laboratory services
• Vaccinations
• HIV Testing and Prevention and treatment referral

The center significantly affects maternal care, malaria prevention, testing, treatment, and pediatric care. It contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN), specifically Goal 3—Health and Well-being.

Future Goals

There are still goals to achieve in this stage of the project:

• Purchase Needed Medical Equipment and Furniture:

  • Additional desktop computers
  • Batteries for the portable sonogram machine
  • Additional sterilizers and medical supplies for the emergency area
  • Chairs for the emergency and vaccination areas
  • Updates in medications
  • Repairs to the clinic walls and floors as well as the fencing to protect the center
  • New, updated software and hospital tracking devices for patient records

• Implement Administrative Efficiency Software

• Expand Staff Training Program

• Increase the Supply of Medical Materials and Medications
