The Fudacion Vicente Ferrer began working in India in 1969, in the most impoverished areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. After more than 5 decades of working with rural Indian communities, it is expanding its horizons to promote the rights of children, women, and people with disabilities in India, South Asia (Nepal, Sri Lanka, Philippines) and Mozambique, while continues to broaden its reach to increase the impact of its development model and support the most disadvantaged communities.
FVF works with rural communities to promote sustainable development that guarantees the well-being of people and their environment. Its comprehensive development program addresses all areas - human, social, and economic - to ensure lasting changes that impact society as a whole. It focuses squarely on four major challenges: dignified childhood, health and well-being, equality, and climate action. Its aligns with the UN's global proposals for Sustainable Development Goals.
Its focus is community development, seeking to achieve a change that provides long-term solutions and helps eradicate poverty on a permanent basis, encouraging the community social and economic participation, to enhance its strength, confidence, and ability to resolve its own problems. The backbone of the organization's work is the strength of the community. This approach has made FVF a benchmark model in the field of development cooperation.
On the premise of an integral development, it is indispensable that the results reverberate equally in the set of the community to guarantee the continuity of any initiative. FVF is proud to be part of a development process undertaken by the most vulnerable and discriminated-against people. They have joined forces to create economically and socially sustainable communities by caring for one another, protect vulnerable children, empowering women and people with disabilities, and respecting nature
