She Built a Business. She Built a Future

By Bukenya Muusa | Project Leader

Amina
Amina

The Moment Everything Changed!

Amina used to wake up before dawn, her stomach knotted with anxiety. As a single mother of three in Gulu City, she was trapped in a cycle of odd jobs washing clothes, carrying water, anything to scrape together enough for one meal a day. She had dreams of selling vegetables at the market, but without capital, without training, without hope, those dreams felt impossible.

Then she received something that changed everything: a microloan of $150 and three days of business training.

Today, Amina runs a thriving vegetable stall. She employs two other women. Her children are in school. And she's not alone. 460 women just like Amina have experienced this same transformation.

92% loan repayment rate  because these women are succeeding

Average income increase of 180%  within 6 months

150 new jobs created  as women hire from their communities

This wasn't just about handing out money. Each of the 460 women received:

3-day intensive business bootcamp  covering budgeting, pricing, marketing, and financial management
Mentorship pairing with established local businesswomen
Access to ongoing support networks and refresher workshops
Micro loans averaging $150 with flexible, dignity-preserving repayment terms

When you combine skills with capital, you don't just create businesses you create unstoppable entrepreneurs.

"I didn't know I could do math for business. I didn't know I could negotiate with suppliers. I didn't know I was smart enough. The training opened my eyes, but the loan opened the door. Today I have five employees all women who were just like me. We're not just selling goods; we're proving what's possible. Every woman has a business inside her. She just needs someone to believe in her first."

Grace Mwanza, Program Graduate & Business Owner

Grace started with a $120 loan and a week of training. Today she runs a tailoring cooperative with 5 employees and contracts with two local schools for uniforms. Her revenue has grown 400%.

Here's what keeps us up at night:

For every woman like Amina and Grace that we've reached, there are 50 more waiting. Women who have the grit, the ideas, and the determination but lack the $150 and the training to unlock it all.

Every day we wait:

Another mother watches her daughter drop out of school to help at home
Another brilliant business idea dies from a lack of seed funding
Another family stays trapped in poverty that could have ended this year

The opportunity cost of inaction is devastating, but the ROI of action is extraordinary.

We've proven the model. It works. Now we need partners ready to scale it.

Here's exactly what happens when you give:

$150 Funds 1 complete micro loan + business training for 1 woman

$750 Launches 5 women into entrepreneurship

$3,000 Transforms an entire village circle (20 women) + creates a mentorship network

100% of your donation goes directly to loans and training. Administrative costs are covered by separate institutional funding.

Amina now goes to bed each night with a notebook full of orders, not worries. Grace now mentors three younger entrepreneurs, paying it forward. 460 women are no longer statistics, they're success stories.

But the next Amina is waiting. The next Grace needs you.
Will you be the reason a mother sends her daughter to school this year?
Will you be the spark that turns a $150 loan into a legacy?
Will you answer the call while there's still time?

Thank you!
