Our mission is to alleviate extreme poverty by creating sustainable programs that address health and education and provide basic resources to those in desperate need. Currently, we support the operations of a school in rural Milot, Haiti. The children receive a quality education, a hot lunch, and tutoring. Teachers receive support through professional development workshops. Mobile health clinics are done biannually to keep the vaccinations up to date and address any potential health concerns.
Milot has 40,000 people and is badly endowed in infrastructures, although it is one of the most visited municipalities by tourists. Most Haitians lack access to quality education; a necessity for sustained social & economic development. Despite the government's commitment to strengthening education, challenges in funding, teacher training, and access remain widespread. These issues put Haitian youth at risk of lacking the knowledge and basic skills necessary to succeed in life and labor force.
We focus on issues that perpetuate poverty- Health, Education, & Resources. The children are provided a quality education. Educated children are empowered with skills to obtain/create jobs and obtain resources to thrive, leading to sustainability. A mobile clinic addresses disease prevention and health promotion crucial to learning. Health and education are globally recognized solutions to end the cycle of poverty. Basic resources like food and clean water are provided and have a huge impact.
When this project reaches its full potential, over 550 families will benefit directly. The primary education of the children and collaboration of the families and community partners has been designed to lead to sustainability of this project. With sustainability being a long-term goal, the curriculum at the school has been enhanced to include basic English, STEM, Art, Music, and Physical Education.
