Project Report | Aug 9, 2023
Fighting anemia with medical care

By Rocio Vidalon | Executive director

Lucy is the Samusocial nutritionist, and in these six months has worked with Kiara and Donny, two nutritionist interns who helped us to achieve our goals. With our Mobile Assistance Teams, they carried out 236 hemoglobin screenings on 89 children and 14 pregnant women. Of the total number of children screened, 55% presented anemia.
This is how we began to closely monitor Yarel, Gael, Ayma, Kaeli, Maribel, Kataleya, Ismael, Dylan, Hidam, Alexia, Renzo, and others... reaching 45 infants and two girls and two boys.

Of these 23 boys and 26 girls with anemia, 9 boys and 11 girls overcame anemia. That is, thanks to the work done, 40.82% of the boys and girls overcame anemia.

We are deeply grateful to the institutions and people who have made this possible.
