This report presents the quarterly progress of the Fight Hunger & Food Insecurity in South-East Nigeria project (ID: 53057). The initiative continues to address hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity through nutrition-focused innovation, community outreach, and sustainable food systems development.
We remain committed to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable populations through practical, scalable, and locally driven food solutions.
2. Appreciation to Donors and GlobalGiving
We express our heartfelt gratitude to all our generous donors whose support continues to make this work possible. Your contributions, encouragement, and belief in our mission are deeply appreciated.
We also sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing a trusted global platform that connects our work to compassionate supporters worldwide. Your partnership enables us to sustain and expand our impact.
3. Financial Summary
During this reporting period, we received a total of:
$17.89 USD
While modest in size, this contribution represents trust, hope, and continued belief in our mission to fight food insecurity. Every donation is carefully directed toward nutrition support activities and community outreach.
4. Project Activities & Innovations
4.1 Nutraceutical Diet Products
We continue to develop nutraceutical-based dietary solutions designed to support improved nutrition, particularly for vulnerable groups facing food insecurity and malnutrition risks.
4.2 Nutrient-Dense Fortified Food Products
Our fortified food innovations use locally sourced ingredients enriched with essential vitamins and minerals to improve dietary intake among children, low-income families, and at-risk populations.
4.3 Samony Food Innovation
Our Samony Food Innovation initiative focuses on creating affordable, nutrient-rich food solutions that can be scaled for community nutrition support and emergency response.
4.4 Training Hub – FIT-Hub
Through our Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub), we provide training in:
Food processing and preservation
Nutritional product development
Small-scale agro-processing
Food entrepreneurship and sustainability
This empowers communities with skills for both improved nutrition and economic resilience.
5. Social Enterprise & In-Kind Contributions
Through our social enterprise, we also provide in-kind support in the form of nutrient-dense fortified foods, Samony food innovation samples, and nutrition education materials to vulnerable households and community groups.
For the past three years, we have consistently integrated community support into our innovation process by donating food during pilot testing of new nutraceutical and fortified food products. This has enabled us to support vulnerable individuals while refining product quality, safety, and nutritional value. In this way, our research and development efforts directly contribute to addressing food insecurity in real time.
6. Impact Overview (Estimated Reach)
Despite limited financial resources, the project continues to generate meaningful grassroots impact:
6.1 Community Reach
25–40 individuals indirectly reached through awareness and outreach
8–12 households engaged through nutrition education activities
15–20 youths and women exposed to food innovation and FIT-Hub learning sessions
6.2 Nutrition Support Impact
10–20 nutrient-support meal portions provided through pilot testing and sample distribution
3–5 food innovation prototypes developed or refined during the quarter
6.3 Capacity Building (FIT-Hub)
5–10 participants introduced to food processing and nutrition concepts
Increased awareness on food fortification and sustainable nutrition practices
7. Challenges
The primary challenge remains limited funding, which constrains the scale of production, outreach, and beneficiary coverage. Increased support will significantly expand our ability to serve more vulnerable households.
8. Prospects and Future Plans
Looking ahead, we aim to:
Scale production of nutrient-dense fortified foods
Expand FIT-Hub training across more communities
Strengthen food distribution and outreach systems
Develop more nutraceutical and emergency nutrition solutions
Increase partnerships for sustainable food security interventions
With continued support, we are confident in significantly expanding our reach and impact across South-East Nigeria.
9. Conclusion
We sincerely appreciate all our donors and partners for standing with us in this mission. Your support—no matter the size—helps us fight hunger, improve nutrition, and restore dignity to vulnerable communities.
Together with GlobalGiving and our supporters, we are building sustainable solutions to food insecurity.
With sincere gratitude,
Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation
