Update on the support for

By James Rosita Nkeiruka | Project Leader

Greetings of peace and joy!

We are incredibly grateful for your kindness, generosity, and expression of solidarity to the rural communities in South East through your donation to *FIGHT HUNGER & FOOD INSECURITY IN SOUTHEAST, NIGERIA.*

*In the past three months of our last project report, we have received through GlobalGiving an additional $45 to meet the immense needs of the people most affected.*

The project was implemented in the rural communities in Southeast and south west. The direct beneficiaries are the youths, women vulnerable and malnourished children and rural communities. With the limited money at hand, we managed to reach few individuals and groups. Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian foundation weren't able to do more as we expected.

Below is a short description of the humanitarian relief and recovery support you have powered with your donation:

Income:

June 24, 2022: Project 53057 - FIGHT HUNGER & FOOD INSECURITY IN SOUTHEAST, Nigeria= Amount: $45.00

In-kind Contributions= $139.45

Miscellaneous= $67.00

Grand Total amount= $251,45

*Expenditures* :

Facilitator Appreciation for seminar presentation= $100

ICT Development= $50
Data bills and phone calls= $65

Printing/photocopy of seminar materials= $30

Grand total= $245.

Income= $251.45

Expenditure=$245

Balance= $6.45

As was reported before, people especially farmers in the Southeast are faced with challenges today. Due to economic instability and inflation, a lot of farmer are handicapped. These are as a result of;
1) Small and fragmented lands provided to them. 2) Seeds which they get are not of proper quality, which definitely affects the growth. Distribution of seeds is also in poor condition. 3) The average yields of crops are lowest in Southeast due to soil degradation and improper use of manure, fertilizer and herbicides. 4) Poor yield per hectare in all the arable and cash crops; 5) inadequate financing systems; 6) poor industrialisation of raw agricultural products; 7) difficult business operation environment and grossly epileptic power supply.

*Thank you for your generous donation to the "FIGHT HUNGER & FOOD INSECURITY IN SOUTHEAST that supported these efforts. As the crises rages on, inflation, insecurity, uncertainty, and humanitarian needs abound. We are committed to providing humanitarian and long-term support to the people in Southeast.* And we will keep you informed about how your donation is impacting the lives of people who are suffering because of this shortage

Thank you for standing with us in our trial time for your donation through GlobalGiving community. Our board of trustees and members of the organization are grateful for your support as you provide relief and assistance for families and individuals affected by hunger and food insecurity in Southeast. Together, we will continue to stand with them, and we will continue to inform you about how your support is making an impact.
