Progress Report march- Jun 2025 : Feed to Learn - Nutritious Meals for Needy Children

Date: July 14, 2025

Introduction

This report details key activities, achievement's g, challenges, recommendation and conclusions. We are delighted to share the progress of our "Feed to Learn" project, made possible by your generous support from March to June 2025. Our goal is to provide nutritious meals to 100 needy school children from single-parent households and child-headed homes in Katabe Town Council, a slum area in Uganda.

Project update

As of today, we have received $200 in donations, representing 13% of our $1500 goal. These funds have been utilized to purchase food items, cooking oil, and vegetables. Our project aims to enhance the health, education, and well-being of these children, ultimately improving their cognitive development, academic performance, and future prospects.

Key Activities

- Food items purchase and distribution
- Food education and importance training for children
- Food preparation training for teachers
- Handwashing and hygiene practices for school children
- Sensitization of families on food security
- Counselling and guidance for school children

Achievements

Despite being in the early stages, we have made significant progress:

- Established partnerships with local leaders, community, and food suppliers
- Reached 20 families with information on food security
- Procured food items for meal preparation
- Trained teachers on food preparation and serving a cost cutting measure and sustainability.
- Served nutritious meals to 100 needy school children once a month

Project Impact

Your support has made a tangible difference in the lives of these children:

- Improved attendance and concentration in class
- Improved health outcomes
- Increased confidence and motivation among children
- Prevented malnutrition-related illnesses
- Reduced absenteeism and improved class attendance

Challenges

- Insufficient funding to cater for nutritional needs as planned twice a week.
- Limited frequency of meals (once a month)
- Need for diversified and nutritious meals
- Inadequate food preparation materials

Recommendations

To address these challenges, we recommend:

- Increased funding to support more frequent meals at least twice a week.
- Diversified and nutritious meal options to include fruits, fish and meat.
- Additional support for food preparation materials

Financial update

We have utilized the donated $200 to cover initial project expenses, mainly food procurement. A detailed breakdown of expenses is as follows:

- Food purchase: $180 (90% of donated amount)
- Administration costs: $20 (10% of donated amount)

Conclusion

The "Feed to Learn" project has greatly supplemented the nourishment of school children. We are grateful for your support and commitment to our cause. We look forward to your continued partnership and support in making a lasting impact on their lives.

Thank you for believing in our mission.

Sincerely,
Mafabi Tom Robert
