This 12-month project provides daily nutritious meals to 100 vulnerable school children from single-mother and child-headed homes in Katabe Town Council, a slum community in Uganda. By improving nutrition, health, and cognitive development, the project boosts academic performance and reduces hunger-related illnesses. With a modest budget of $1,500, your support ensures these children learn, thrive, and build brighter futures.

Challenge

In most communities in Uganda, only 47.5% of school-going children aged 6-12 years receive meals at school, with a higher proportion in urban households (58.2%) compared to rural households (43.8%) according to ministry of education. Needy sch0ool children aged 6-12 suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and poor health, hindering their cognitive development, academic performance, and future prospects. Lack of access to nutritious meals exacerbates poverty, illiteracy, and poor health outcomes.

Solution

Nourishing school project will provide daily nutritious meals to needy school children aged 6-12, bridging the gap in school meal provision: Resulting into improved nutrition and health outcomes; enhance cognitive development and academic performance; Reduce hunger and malnutrition-related illnesses; break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Prioritizing rural -urban households, where only 43.8% of school-going children receive meals at school, ensuring equitable access to nutritious.

Long-Term Impact

Project will have a transformative impact on needy school children aged 6-12: Improved education outcomes; increased school attendance, concentration and academic performance; enhanced health and well-being; reduced stunting, wasting, and anemia; break the cycle of illiteracy; improved cognitive skills; healthy & educated children become productive citizens; reduced healthcare costs; preventing malnutrition-related illnesses , shaping a brighter future for Uganda's next generation.
