The covid 19 lockdown has put a number of people under serious crisis. A number of families are finding it difficult to manage their daily expense aswellas nutrition for their family and themselves. As the lockdown has put a halt on every daily wage activities, there are a number of people who got trapped in Trivandrum city as there is no transport facility to their home town. The absence of job has lead them to a poor situation in which they doesn’t even have a proper shelter thereby turning them into destitutes across Trivandrum city. The first phase of lockdown has been put into relax by the month of June but when the cases increased in name of community spread, the government has announced a strict tripple lockdown by the month of July 2020 which again put the daily wagers under crisis.
Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society has identified a number of destitutes across he city during this lockdown period and has framed an event named “Vishappinu vida” ( Malayalam word which means – Say good bye to hunger) which has lasted for 2 weeks in July. The aim of this event was to provide meals to the destitutes who has been left out across the city. We have been ordering 100 food packets worth Rs. 40 for distributing to these people daily.
We are happy to announce that this act has turned to be an inspiration for many youth groups since they also showed interest in donating to this event and volunteer in our programme during Covid 19 lockdown.
