Provide 750 Food Baskets to Families in Syria

By Rana Bitar | Founder & Executive Director

We extend our deepest gratitude to GlobalGiving, its generous donors, and the entire GlobalGiving team for your continued trust, compassion, and unwavering support.
Your generosity continues to bring hope and dignity to families facing prolonged humanitarian hardship in Syria. We are truly honored to partner with a community that believes in standing beside the most vulnerable during times of crisis.

During this reporting period, Space of Peace distributed 85 food baskets to 85 vulnerable families across Idlib and rural Idlib. the assistance reached approximately 380 individuals, including 75 adult women, 70 adult men, 120 girls, and 115 boys.
Among the supported households were five families caring for children with disabilities, who face additional challenges in meeting their daily nutritional and care needs.

Each food basket was carefully prepared to provide families with a variety of essential food items that help meet their daily nutritional needs.
The baskets included rice, bulgur, lentils, chickpeas, white beans, pasta, cooking oil, sugar, tea, tomato paste, tahini halva, and salt.
These staple foods enabled families to prepare nutritious, culturally familiar meals while reducing the financial burden caused by rising food prices and the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The humanitarian situation in Syria remains extremely challenging, with many families struggling to secure enough food for their daily needs.
Thanks to your support, vulnerable households were able to preserve their dignity, reduce negative coping mechanisms, and focus on the wellbeing of their children and family members.

The gratitude expressed by the families was overwhelming.
Many shared that these food baskets restore hope during difficult times and sincerely wished that this humanitarian support would continue, as many still rely on such assistance to meet their most basic needs.

One story that deeply touched our team was that of Hanaa, an elderly woman caring for her elderly husband, who is living with a physical disability, and their daughter, who was born with autism and developmental disabilities.
Hanaa told us that every time humanitarian assistance reaches their home, she feels that someone still remembers families like hers.

She shared:

“Whenever we receive a food basket or humanitarian assistance, I feel that we have not been forgotten. This food basket means that my husband and my daughter will have food for the coming month, and that gives me peace of mind during very difficult days.”

Before we left, Hanaa asked us to document and share her story.
She wanted her voice to reach generous people and donors around the world so they would continue supporting families raising children with disabilities.
She said she hopes no one forgets children who have lived with disabilities since birth and who have had so few opportunities to experience happiness or security. Her courage and optimism, despite the hardships she faces every day, left a lasting impression on our entire team.

Despite the continuing humanitarian challenges across Syria, your support is helping families preserve their dignity, protect their wellbeing, and face the future with renewed hope.

On behalf of all the families we serve, thank you once again to GlobalGiving and every generous donor for making this impact possible.
Together, we continue to deliver hope, dignity, and lifesaving assistance to those who need it most.
Your generosity is changing lives, one family at a time, and reminding vulnerable communities that they are not alone.
