Summary

Amina still remembers the last meal she shared with her children before they fled armed violence in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Today, like thousands of displaced families in North and South Kivu, she wonders how to feed them tomorrow. This project will provide emergency food assistance, nutrition screening, cash support, vegetable gardens, quality seeds, and food security training to 700 households (4,200 people), helping families survive today and harvest hope for tomorrow.

Challenge

Armed conflict in Eastern DRC, especially North and South Kivu, has forced thousands of families from their homes, leaving farms abandoned and markets destroyed. Parents like Amina skip meals so their children can eat. Malnutrition is rising, children are leaving school, and families are losing every chance to rebuild. Without urgent food assistance and livelihood support, hunger will deepen and recovery will become even harder.

Solution

This project will help 700 conflict-affected households through emergency food distributions, nutrition screening for children, cash assistance, kitchen gardens, improved seed distribution, and community food security training. Families will receive immediate relief while rebuilding their ability to grow nutritious food and earn income. Every donation helps protect lives today and gives parents the tools to feed their children long after the emergency ends.

Long-Term Impact

Families will move beyond emergency aid toward lasting food security and resilience. Kitchen gardens and improved farming skills will increase local food production, improve child nutrition, strengthen household incomes, and reduce dependence on humanitarian assistance. Healthier children can return to school, while stronger families help rebuild peaceful, resilient communities across Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
