Feed and educate 3,500 children in rural Vietnam

With autumn upon us and a new school year underway, PeaceTrees Vietnam is thrilled to share back-to-school updates from two new kindergartens that are already transforming the lives of children in Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces, Vietnam.

Thanh Kindergarten

The construction of Thanh Kindergarten was completed earlier this year. As of September 2024, 56 students (all between the ages of 4 and 6) are attending classes in two bright, welcoming classrooms. As with PeaceTrees' other kindergartens, students here are receiving hot lunches each day at school thanks to the generous support of donors like you.

To celebrate the start of the school year, PeaceTrees visited the kindergarten to deliver gifts and study supplies, creating an atmosphere of celebration for the year to come. Both students and teachers shared their heartfelt gratitude for the donors and PeaceTrees, whose generosity made the dream of this school possible.

K-Ing Kindergarten

Construction for K-Ing Kindergarten began in May 2024 and was completed within three short months - just in time for the school year to begin in September! The school now serves 25 students between the ages of 3 and 5, providing a safe and nurturing space for them to grow and learn.

On the first day of school, PeaceTrees delivered gifts and school supplies to the students, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for the community. The construction of this school was funded by a generous group of donors, and nutritional support is being provided through our school lunch program.

We are excited to share our latest progress in supporting the futures of the youngest and most vulnerable in Vietnam through our education and nutrition programs.

Scholarship Program

Thanks to your generous support, the PeaceTrees Vietnam Scholarship Program awarded 243 scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year, supporting female ethnic minority children, those impacted by explosive ordnance accidents, and children facing financial hardships. We held award ceremonies in Dong Ha, Dakrong, and Huong Hoa, where students also received essential EORE notebooks. This initiative continues to foster education and empower the next generation.

Tet Celebrations and School Lunch Program

In celebration of Tet, we visited 17 kindergartens in Quang Tri and Quang Bình Provinces, delivering goodie bags and lì xì (red envelopes traditional to Tet) to students. Our school lunch program, providing crucial nutrition to combat undernutrition affecting many young children, remains a cornerstone of our support. Ensuring students receive daily nutritious meals promotes healthy development and helps them thrive in their educational journey.

Ongoing Community Support

The legacy of war still impacts food security in central Vietnam. Our efforts extend beyond clearing unexploded ordnance to supporting community-led development and agricultural projects. These initiatives are vital for kindergartens and community centers, offering safe learning spaces and mine risk education.
