She Steps Forward International is providing basic essentials (e.g., food, clothing, medicine) as well as an education to 65 Kenyan children who reside at the Neemaland Queens and Kings Center, located in one of the lowest-income areas of Nairobi, Kenya. By investing in them today, we are breaking a cycle of poverty and ensuring they have a brighter future ahead.
Research shows that almost 4 million Kenyan children under the age of 18 are orphaned or considered highly vulnerable. The Neemaland Queens and Kings Center is home to 65+ children who fall directly into these two categories. Neemaland currently receives no governmental assistance nor is the beneficiary of any international feeding program. Therefore, this project will provide a lifeline of stable humanitarian relief and education to a group of Kenyan children who would otherwise go without.
SSFI is providing these children 3 nutritious meals a day along with clothing, toiletries, medications, nutritional supplements, and occasionally some sweet surprises, like toys. We are looking to purchase livestock for Neemaland as a way to decrease food insecurity and provide self-sustaining food sources. In addition, SSFI provides direct access to qualified teachers to ensure these children will have the necessary skills they need to break the poverty cycle and succeed as adults.
Investing in the physical and intellectual growth of these children today provides the best chance that they will succeed in their future goals and become productive citizens of Kenya in the near future.
