News from August at Instituto Melo Cordeiro
August was a month of meaningful encounters, learning, and achievements at Instituto Melo Cordeiro. In every activity, we witnessed the transformative power of education, culture, and care, reaffirming our commitment to impacting lives and strengthening the community. This month, our initiatives stood out not only for the return to routines but also for the engagement and leadership of children, adolescents, and local leaders.
Back to School
After the July break, our educational activities resumed with renewed enthusiasm and dedication. August was a month of reunions and rediscoveries, where children and adolescents returned to their routines with fresh energy, motivation, and focus on integral development. Every classroom moment or complementary activity was an opportunity to build strong bonds, exercise collaborative learning, and strengthen trust in themselves and the community around them.
Seeing our community gathered, motivated, and ready to learn reinforces the importance of every effort and every initiative aimed at opening doors to new horizons and providing meaningful experiences that contribute to the formation of conscious, critical citizens committed to collective well-being. August reminds us that education goes beyond content: it is about creating space to grow, dream, and transform realities.
Sharing Dreams at Favela dos Sonhos
In August, we had the joy of promoting a very special gathering at Favela dos Sonhos, bringing together young people and partners to share stories, experiences, and learning. It was a moment of true exchange, where every voice was heard, and every journey was valued.
More than strengthening bonds, this gathering showed how powerful it is to dream and act together. Every smile, every conversation, and every activity reinforced that when the community unites, it is possible to transform realities and build new horizons.
Our commitment to active listening became even clearer: we want to listen, learn, and walk side by side with those who are part of the territory. Above all, we want to inspire everyone to believe in the potential of collective action to generate concrete changes in everyday life. August reminded us that each small action, when done with care and in collaboration, can create a great impact for the entire community.
Institute in Action: Our president at the Crescer Event
Our leader and inspiration, Kethlin, participated in the Crescer Event, promoted by Rabbit, representing Instituto Melo Cordeiro. During her presentation, she shared theoretical foundations and pedagogical practices that guide our work, highlighting themes such as trust-based relationships, secure bonds, and empathetic listening spaces that transform schools into places of belonging, healing, and growth—not only for students but also for educators. The event expanded dialogues, connected experiences, and reinforced the importance of amplifying the voices of grassroots initiatives, showing that significant change happens when knowledge and action walk hand in hand.
Folklore Day Celebration
On August 22, we held special activities in honor of Folklore Day. The children participated in storytelling sessions, games, and playful dynamics that highlighted the richness of Brazilian popular culture. Beyond fun, the day encouraged reflections on our traditions and cultural identity, fostering the appreciation of local roots and the development of cultural awareness from an early age.
Thank You!
We closed August with the certainty that every action, gathering, and celebration strengthens our mission to transform realities through education, culture, and care. Every step we take brings us closer to creating opportunities and promoting equality, offering each child and young person the chance to dream, learn, and build a future filled with possibilities. Thank you for walking with us on this journey of transformation and for believing in the power of community.
