Dear Friends,
Hsipaw Eye Mission Update
Due to the insurgencies among rebels and between the rebels and the military forces in Shan State, our Myanmar partner informed us that there is no guarantee of safety for our medical team during the road trip. Selva: “…..after dealing with insurgency issues and now flooding issues, safety must come first for everyone – Sitagu has officially cancelled the 2016 Myanmar cataract mission.”
After a deep and thorough consideration, we have decided to tentatively reschedule the Hsipaw Eye Care Mission to September 2017.
As most of you know, when working in developing countries, sometimes plans are not always carried out as hoped.
The goal of the cataract missions is to give the gift of sight to those in need. We will continue to monitor the in-country situations in hopes of continuing our efforts for the community in 2017.
We will keep you informed accordingly.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
