This September 2016 week-long Myanmar eye-care mission will perform at least 300 cataract surgeries and train local ophthalmologists on international standard cataract surgical procedures. The local community requested this mission donating food and lodging; Int'l doctors donate time, skill and airfare; US pharmaceutical companies donate medical supplies; Global Community Service Foundation coordinates all logistics & permits. Your financial support is needed to purchase the training equipment.
There are more than 3 million ethnic people living in rural communities throughout the Shan State in Myanmar that lack access to basic eye-care let alone international standardized treatment. Global Community Service Foundation (GCSF) is a proud sponsor of cataract missions to Myanmar.
Using standardized training equipment, volunteer international Ophthalmologists will perform cataract surgeries alongside the local Ophthalmologists. Along with newly acquired surgical skills, the training equipment will be left at the hospital for future medical training programs.
Villagers will have access to local Ophthalmologists who can preform life-changing cataract surgeries in hopes of restoring their eyesight and independence. The mission of GCSF includes supporting healthcare programs in Myanmar and Viet Nam.
