Eye Donation Awareness Drive Update Mar - May 2016

At the outset we thank all the donors, well-wishers to help us for the past one year to carry out eye donation drive in 164 villages of Chiplun, India. We are thankful to GlobalGiving to provide this platform to be in touch with you on regular basis. We appeal you to spread the word within your network to help us reach our donation goal which is still short of $1,500.00.
Here is the progress of our work
Cornea Collection
- 3 eye donations (cornea collection) took place during the past 2 months.
- Throughout the year 15 eye donations (cornea collection) took place
Free Eye Check-up camp
- 200 villagers received the benefits through three free eye check-up camps arranged in Chiplun Tehsil
Awareness Drives
- April 8th 2016, Gudhi Padwa was the New Year as per Hindu calendar. Since last year, on this occasion various social and cultural organizations have been arranging rallies in Chiplun city. Sahyadri participated in this rally to spread eye donation awareness. Senior citizens spontaneously registered for eye donation during the rally.
- Awareness and registration drives were held on regular basis through Chiplun Tehsil
- Leveraging the new technology, Sahyadri has developed a mobile application for Android users for easy eye donation registration. This application shall be released during this moth.

Eye Donation Awareness Drive Update Dec - Feb 2016

We are sure that you have special memories about the New Year celebrations and the resolutions. We wanted people to make selfless resolution for those who have never seen bright light of the New Year day. We appealed people through local newspaper to register as eye donor.
Your generous support has helped us reach so far. Consider donating and help us achieve our donation goal through GlobalGiving. We are short of USD 1,770.00 from our set goal.
Here is the progress of our work
Cornea Collection
- 10 eye donations took place in 2014 from this region.
- In the month of January and February Sahyadri assisted 2 instances of cornea collection making total of 12 eye donations so far.
Free Eye Check up camp
- On the occasion 60th death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Sahyadri organized eye donation awareness and free eye check-up camp at Chiplun in association with B. K. Walawalkar Hospital, Dervan.
Awareness Drives
- Sahyadri conducted meetings in 40 villages to spread eye donation awareness
- Sahyadri also conducted eye donation awareness camps at education institute in Sawarde.

Eye Donation Awareness Drive Update Sep - Nov 2015

- Your donation has created positive impacts! The following 2 instances show effectiveness of awareness drives
- Khandala Villagers called Sahyadri to inform their readiness for Eye Donation and requested a meeting. In the village level meeting 64 Eye Donors registered on the spot.
- Tanali villagers proactively arranged eye donation and registration drive.
- We are also thankful to Global Giving for timely disbursements of funds to carry out the activities. Here is the brief update for your referecen.
Cornea Collection
- Sahyadri has been following up with State Health Department and National Program for Control of Blindness - Mumbai and District Authorities to create more awareness material in Marathi and for issuing clear guidelines about involving trained technician for corena collection. This will help to attend requests from remote villages.
Free Eye Check up camp
- Sahyadri had arranged free eye check up camp at Khadpoli village with the help of Khadpoli Gram Panchayat (local governing body), B. K. Walawalkar Hospital, NAP Eye Hospital, Chiplung and eye specialists of District Health Department. Doctors conducted various tests and gave related medicinal treatment to 79 villagers. 13 people participated in Blood Donation drive and 7 people registered for eye donation during this camp.
- More such camps have been planned during the coming months.
Awareness Drives
- As Ganpati Festival (17th - 27th Sep. 2015) is a big event Konkan, Sahyadri had arranged a Eye Donation Awareness exhibits
- Sahyadri conducted meetings in 60 villages to spread eye donation awareness
