Eye Donation Awareness Drive Update Sep - Nov 2015

  • Your donation has created positive impacts! The following 2 instances show effectiveness of awareness drives 
      • Khandala Villagers called Sahyadri to inform their readiness for Eye Donation and requested a meeting. In the village level meeting 64 Eye Donors registered on the spot.
      • Tanali villagers proactively arranged eye donation and registration drive.
  • We are also thankful to Global Giving for timely disbursements of funds to carry out the activities. Here is the brief update for your referecen.

Cornea Collection

  • Sahyadri has been following up with State Health Department and National Program for Control of Blindness - Mumbai and District Authorities to create more awareness material in Marathi and for issuing clear guidelines about involving trained technician for corena collection. This will help to attend requests from remote villages.

Free Eye Check up camp

  • Sahyadri had arranged free eye check up camp at Khadpoli village with the help of Khadpoli Gram Panchayat (local governing body), B. K. Walawalkar Hospital, NAP Eye Hospital, Chiplung and eye specialists of District Health Department. Doctors conducted various tests and gave related medicinal treatment to 79 villagers. 13 people participated in Blood Donation drive and 7 people registered for eye donation during this camp.
  • More such camps have been planned during the coming months.

Awareness Drives

  • As Ganpati Festival (17th - 27th Sep. 2015) is a big event Konkan, Sahyadri had arranged a Eye Donation Awareness exhibits
  • Sahyadri conducted meetings in 60 villages to spread eye donation awareness
