Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

This report provides an update on the progress of the Advocacy 4 Mental Health Awareness, S/East Nigeria project (ID: 54408). Our mission is to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, strengthen community understanding, and improve access to information and support for individuals living with mental health conditions across Southeast Nigeria.

Although we did not receive external financial support during this reporting period, we remain committed to advancing this important mission through volunteer efforts, community engagement, innovation, and the continued support of our social enterprise.

2. Appreciation to GlobalGiving

We sincerely appreciate GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that enables grassroots organizations to connect with compassionate supporters around the world.

Although we have not yet received external donations for this project, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our vision with the global community. We remain hopeful that future donor support will enable us to expand mental health awareness and advocacy across Southeast Nigeria.

3. Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project did not receive any external financial donations.

Despite this, we continued investing our own time, expertise, and limited resources through our social enterprise to sustain advocacy, project planning, community engagement, and awareness activities.

4. Project ActivitiesMental Health Awareness

We continued promoting public awareness of mental health by encouraging open conversations, challenging stigma, and increasing understanding of the importance of mental wellbeing for individuals, families, and communities.

Community Engagement

We engaged with community members to promote empathy, inclusion, and support for people experiencing mental health challenges, while encouraging early help-seeking and stronger community support systems.

Nutrition and Mental Wellbeing

Through our work in nutraceutical diet products and nutrient-dense fortified foods, we continued highlighting the important relationship between good nutrition, overall health, and mental wellbeing. We believe that proper nutrition is an important component of holistic health and complements broader mental health support.

Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub)

Through our Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub), we continued integrating health education, nutrition, food safety, and community wellbeing into our programmes, strengthening knowledge that contributes to healthier and more resilient communities.

5. Social Enterprise Support

Although external funding has not yet been received, our social enterprise continues to sustain aspects of this project through in-kind contributions, community education, volunteer engagement, research, and innovation.

For the past three years, we have consistently donated food during the pilot testing of newly developed nutraceutical diet products and nutrient-dense fortified foods. These donations have supported vulnerable individuals while enabling us to improve product quality, safety, and nutritional value.

Our commitment is to promote holistic wellbeing by integrating nutrition, community education, and compassionate care into our humanitarian work.

6. Estimated Impact

Despite limited financial resources, the project has continued to generate meaningful community impact.

Community Reach

  • Approximately 30–50 individuals reached through mental health awareness and community engagement activities.
  • 15–20 youths, caregivers, and community members participated in discussions on mental wellbeing and stigma reduction.
  • Increased awareness of mental health, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of seeking appropriate support.

Community Capacity

  • Strengthened understanding of mental health among community members.
  • Increased awareness of the role of nutrition, family support, and community inclusion in promoting overall wellbeing.

Innovation Progress

  • Continued integration of nutrition education and community health promotion into our mental health advocacy activities.

7. Challenges

The absence of external funding continues to limit our ability to organize large-scale awareness campaigns, educational programmes, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities.

Additional financial support will enable us to expand mental health education, strengthen community partnerships, and reach more vulnerable individuals and families.

8. Prospects and Future Plans

In the coming months, we aim to:

  • Expand community-based mental health awareness campaigns.
  • Increase education on stigma reduction and mental wellbeing.
  • Strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and community leaders.
  • Promote holistic wellbeing through the integration of mental health education, nutrition, and community support.
  • Train more volunteers and advocates to champion mental health awareness across Southeast Nigeria.

We remain optimistic that future donor support will enable us to scale our advocacy efforts and contribute to healthier, more inclusive communities.

9. Conclusion

Although we have not yet received external financial support for this project, our commitment to promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and improving community wellbeing remains unwavering.

Through volunteerism, innovation, community engagement, and the continued support of our social enterprise, we are laying the foundation for lasting change.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing this platform and look forward to partnering with donors who share our vision of building a society where mental health is understood, respected, and supported.

With sincere gratitude,

Rosita Agomuo
