Every 8 minutes a child goes missing in India. 40% of them are never found. They are sold as labour, as sex objects or worse. iPartner India needs your help to stop this modern day slavery. In just 5 years, we have supported NGOs working on the frontline in India and helped 20,250 child trafficking victims in 11 states in India. We do this by bringing together the Indian government, our partner NGOs and caring individuals in the global community - like you - to work towards ending child slavery.
Today, India is home to nearly half the world's 30 million slaves; 58% of whom are trafficked for sexual exploitation. Their average age is just 12. Some prostitutes are as young as 5. India also has the highest number of child labourers. Children here are sold for less than the cost of a buffalo, many by their own parents. Poverty, society's tolerance for child labour, and insufficient law enforcement are the root causes, and the reasons why this gross violation of human rights persists.
The project will tackle child slavery through awareness and prevention campaigns, rescue operations and rehabilitation. We will protect over 100,000 children across 4 trafficking 'hotspot' cities in India. You can help change the lives of India's most vulnerable children. iPartner India is committed to bringing the issue of child slavery to the forefront of political and social awareness, ensuring that this can no longer be ignored. We will work to break the cycle of poverty, trafficking and exploitation in India. Children and their families will become educated in the dangers of trafficking and learn how to prevent it, and society as a whole will be mobilized to stand up for survivors. Long term, your support will prevent a child going missing every 8 minutes.
