This project will establish community food banks in selected areas of Ghana to improve food access for vulnerable families. Many households face periods of food shortage due to poverty, unemployment, and rising food prices. The food banks will collect, store, and distribute food items to families in need, helping to reduce hunger and improve food security at the community level.
Food insecurity remains a major challenge in many communities in Ghana. Low-income families often struggle to afford enough nutritious food, especially during periods of unemployment or economic hardship. Without a reliable support system, many households experience hunger, poor nutrition, and increased vulnerability to health problems.
This project will set up community-based food banks that collect donations of food items from partners, farmers, and supporters. These food banks will safely store and distribute food to vulnerable households based on need. Community volunteers will help manage distribution to ensure fairness and transparency, making sure support reaches those most in need.
The project will reduce hunger and improve food access for vulnerable families in Ghana. Over time, community food banks will strengthen local resilience against food shortages and economic shocks. This system will help stabilize household nutrition, improve health outcomes, and create a more supportive community safety net for the most vulnerable.
