Summary

In Bukaaye village and surrounding communities in Kamuli District, Uganda, accessing essential medicines can require costly travel to town. Makaye Edrine, a pharmacy graduate hopes to establish a properly licensed community pharmacy to bring essential medicines closer to local families. Challenge

Families in Bukaaye village and nearby communities in Kamuli District face challenges accessing essential medicines close to home. Residents often need to travel to town to obtain medicines, adding transport costs and making access more difficult for households with limited incomes. Establishing a community pharmacy could help reduce these travel barriers by making essential medicines available closer to where people live.

Solution

We will establish a community pharmacy in Bukaaye to bring essential medicines closer to families and reduce costly trips to town. Donations will support the premises, required licenses, equipment and initial medicine stock. A pharmacy-trained professional supported through ABCCA's education sponsorship program will help make essential medicines more accessible to the community. By bringing medicines closer to the community, it will make access more convenient for underserved household.

Long-Term Impact

Establishing a pharmacy in Bukaaye could improve access to essential medicines and reduce costly trips to town. The project will help an ABCCA-sponsored professional called Edrine Makaye and others like him apply their training, build a sustainable livelihood and contribute to community development. In the long term, edrine hopes to support orphans and vulnerable children through empowerment. ABCCA will monitor progress, regulatory compliance and the pharmacy's impact on the community.
