Keep her in school

For many families we serve, access to good-quality seed can determine whether a farming season brings food and income or another period of hardship. At F SSIBU Mission Foundation, we are therefore continuing seed distribution alongside agricultural education to help vulnerable households establish productive gardens.

Seed support is not simply about giving families something to plant. We combine distribution with training so that families understand how to prepare land, plant at the right time, maintain crops, manage pests, conserve soil moisture, and protect their harvests. This approach helps families use every seed more effectively.

Our continued farming support is particularly important for households caring for vulnerable children and girls. When families have better access to food, they can reduce some of the pressures that contribute to school absenteeism, household instability, and difficult choices about children’s education.

We want families to gradually move from receiving agricultural assistance to becoming more self-reliant producers. Improved seeds can help them grow food for household consumption while creating opportunities to sell surplus produce and generate income.

Donors can help us continue this work by supporting seed purchases, farmer training, demonstration plots, and follow-up visits. Every packet of quality seed represents a possibility: a healthier meal, a stronger harvest, additional household income, or a child remaining in school.

At F SSIBU Mission Foundation, we believe that empowering a girl also means strengthening the family and community around her. Many families we serve depend on small-scale farming, yet limited knowledge, poor-quality seeds, unpredictable weather, and traditional farming methods can make it difficult to produce enough food or earn reliable income.

We are introducing families to modern and improved farming practices that can increase productivity while making better use of the land available to them. Through practical demonstrations and household guidance, families are learning about improved seed selection, proper spacing, soil preparation, timely planting, crop management, composting, pest control, and post-harvest handling.

Our girls are also being encouraged to see agriculture as more than subsistence farming. We teach them practical skills that can help them become future farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, and leaders in their communities.

Continued donor support can help us reach more families with improved seeds, farming tools, training, demonstration gardens, and follow-up support. These investments can translate into more food on household tables, stronger family incomes, and greater opportunities for girls.
