More than 12K children away from child labor!

We managed to discourage child labor in more than 12,000 Colombian children and adolescents thanks to your support!

We are very grateful for your donation to the "Help Eradicate Child Labor in Colombia" project. Thanks to your contributions, we managed to develop different activities with children, adolescents, families, and teachers, focused on the prevention and disincentive of child labor.

We believe that family and school play a very important role since they are responsible for the care and education of children and adolescents; the reason why our work became a team effort, to ensure that they continue studying and developing artistic, cultural and sports skills, according to their ages.

The project in Bogotá ended last year, and this is the balance:

12,912 children and adolescents participated in the characterization of their school and non-school activities for the identification of child labor; and 1004 students from 29 educational centers made use of their right to participate in workshops, murals, radio stations, and sports activities, where they showed that their dreams and wishes are far from child labor.

745 teachers from 31 educational centers participated in awareness-raising sessions for the prevention of child labor, to lead activities with children and their families focused on the importance of providing opportunities through education, away from child labor, avoiding physical, psychological and emotional risks.

1531 families in 31 Educational Institutions participated in 61 awareness workshops focused on the prevention of child labor and the care of children and adolescents. The activities carried out with children, adolescents, families, and teachers allowed generating strategies for the prevention and disincentive of child labor, as well as supporting the development of life skills and active citizenship, contributing to the full development of life trajectories of teenagers, away from child labor.

¡Logramos desincentivar el trabajo infantil en más de 12.000 niños, niñas y adolescentes colombianos gracias a tu apoyo!

Gracias a tus aportes, logramos desarrollar distintas actividades con niños, niñas, adolescentes, familias y profesores, enfocadas en la prevención y desincentivación del trabajo infantil desde la escuela.

Creemos que tanto la familia como la escuela juegan un papel muy importante, pues son los responsables del cuidado y educación de los niños y adolescentes; por lo que nuestra labor se convirtió en un trabajo en equipo, para lograr que ellos continuaran estudiando y desarrollando habilidades artísticas, culturales y deportivas, de acuerdo a sus edades.

Logramos culminar el proyecto de Bogotá en 2019, y este es el balance:

12.912 niños, niñas y adolescentes participaron en la caracterización de sus actividades escolares y no escolares para la identificación del trabajo infantil; y 1004 estudiantes de 29 centros educativos hicieron uso del derecho a la participación en talleres, murales, emisoras de radio y actividades deportivas, donde mostraron que sus sueños y deseos están alejados del trabajo infantil.

745 profesores de 31 centros educativos participaron en jornadas de sensibilización para la prevención del trabajo infantil, para liderar con sus aprendizajes, actividades con niños y niñas y sus familias enfocadas a la importancia de brindarle a sus hijos oportunidades a través de la educación, alejados del trabajo infantil, evitando riesgos físicos, psicológicos y emocionales.

1531 familias en 31 Instituciones Educativas participaron en 61 talleres de sensibilización enfocadas a la prevención del trabajo infantil y el cuidado de los niños, niñas y adolescentes. Las actividades desarrolladas con los niños, niñas y adolescentes, las familias, y los profesores permitieron generar estrategias para la prevención y desincentivación del trabajo infantil, además apoyar el desarrollo de las habilidades para la vida y la ciudadanía activa, contribuyendo al pleno desarrollo de las trayectorias de vida de los adolescentes, alejados del trabajo infantil.

Changing child labor for sport

Some histories of life...

I have changed the child labour into the sport...

Jordy he is 15 years old, and lives with his mother and his brothers in the district of The Usme's St Lawrence in Bogota, and is present at the ninth degree. He is a young person who takes part, is happy, with great interest for the sports, and the practice of football with his friends in a school of the neighborhood.

He link to the program in 2013, he was accompanying his mother to being employed at a place of market, recycling and in the street, since this one was the labor activity of the family for his sustenance.

With the commitment of the family, who understood that child labor has generated risks for development as a child, supported to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, recreation and culture, to reduce their working time and always stands out in practice soccer.

Mrs. Mary, mother of Jordy, now understands that their children should be devoted to studying and living his childhood, so none accompanies her to work. She understands that you must train them in family values and support their schooling process. Jordy stands out among their peers for their good academic performance, and this year 2016, is in a process of technical training, focused on sport, has a life plan that has the support of his mother and siblings to reach it.

The rhythm of vallenato!

Helen is 15 and when she entered the program, worked as a street vendor in food distribution through the streets near his home, on less than a dollar remuneration. Their physical conditions were not the best, because the long working hours under the sun had affected his skin and extreme fatigue, she not motivated to attend school activities.

With out-of-school activities, Hellene it began to take lessons of music and singing, and learned vocal technique, she found a different motivation stopping the child labour, increasing his motivation in the study, occupying the top positions in the school; the family understood that his daughter was deserving other opportunities to develop his talents, and supported her in her artistic training.

After three years, Helen did not return to work, and attends ninth grade, she continued his musical studies today at a more advanced level, and thinking of forming his own group, to carry the message to children about the importance of pursue their dreams in what they really like and withdrawn from child labor.

These wonderful changes in the life of the children it has been thanks to you and his donations. In name of the children the whole recognition.

We work so that children do not have child labor

Thanks to their contributions, working children stay in school and do other activities that their artistic, cultural and sporting skills develop, so are out of child labor.

Volunteers play an important role in the task of eradicating child labor; during the period, they developed awareness activities and approach to the city of Monteria and Cartagena, making a career of observation where technologies such support is used to locate the places and customs we wanted to know, in addition to digital challenges, and the use of social networks.

Also, with 1,950 teenagers and young people from the cities of Monteria, Bogota, Cartagena, Quindio, Valledupar, La Loma, Codazzi and Medellin, it became the Entrepreneurship Route, which aims to develop the skills of social entrepreneurship, where young people learn to make social action projects in their own communities, according to their own interests, also strengthen teamwork, leadership and communication; to motivate adolescents and young people to consider their own ability to stay away from child labor.

In October, 50 families of the School of technology and communications, graduated from the workshops, as an alternative to lead parents and children to create joint alternatives to provide solutions to family projects with the use of technology and support their children in developing their tasks. This joint action with families helps sensitize parents to child labor ward off their children.

Finally, in November and December, the graduation ceremonies of 3,670 children who were able to withdraw from child labor were made, the children presented the results of their work with artistic, sporting and cultural events, which represented the development of their skills and qualities.

We will continue to work for children who are still in child labor manage to overcome this situation, so their cooperation is important. Thanks to the progress made so far!
