Equip 200students with computer skills in Tanzania

The Digital Literacy Project, launched in September 2024, aims to empower youth in Tanzania by equipping them with essential computer skills, thereby bridging the digital divide and enhancing opportunities for education and employment. The project targets under-resourced schools, starting with Saashisha Secondary School in Hai District and Commercial Secondary School in Zanzibar.

Achievements to Date:
Since the project’s inception:

• 100 Youth Trained: We have conducted comprehensive digital literacy training sessions for approximately 100 youths from the two schools.
• Basic Computer Skills Development: Participants have been introduced to foundational computer skills, including:
  • Hardware and Software Basics: Understanding the components of a computer and basic software operations.
  • Word Processing and Spreadsheets: Using programs like Microsoft Word and Excel for academic and personal tasks.
  • Internet Navigation and Online Safety: Exploring the internet for educational purposes and ensuring safe digital practices.

Impact on Beneficiaries:
The training has:

• Improved students' confidence in using technology for academic purposes.
• Enabled them to apply their new skills in other aspects of their lives, such as creating personal documents and conducting research online.
• Sparked interest in more advanced technological skills, with some students expressing aspirations in programming and digital entrepreneurship.

Community Engagement:
The initiative has received strong support from the local communities and school leadership, who recognize the importance of digital literacy in preparing students for the 21st-century workforce.
