Support 500 Bukavu Children in School

Humanitarian Project Report

Equipping 500 Vulnerable Children in Bukavu with Essential School Kits
Location: Bukavu, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo
Estimated Budget: $13,500
Funds Raised So Far: $0
Fundraising Partner: GlobalGiving

Context and Rationale

In Bukavu, eastern DRC, more than 500 children attending public primary schools come from families living in extreme poverty. These families cannot afford even the most basic school supplies, making it difficult—if not impossible—for their children to participate in class.

As a result, many drop out, fall behind, or become discouraged. This deepens cycles of poverty, as lack of education limits future opportunities for the children and their communities.

Project Objective

The goal of this project is to distribute 500 complete school kits to vulnerable children in Bukavu.
Each kit will include:

  • A backpack
  • Notebooks
  • Pens and pencils
  • An eraser
  • A ruler

This support will help children stay in school, focus on learning, and build a brighter future.

Implementation and Transparency

All school supplies will be purchased locally to support the regional economy. Distribution will take place directly through schools, in close coordination with teachers and parents, ensuring transparency and effectiveness.

We are proud to collaborate with GlobalGiving, a trusted international crowdfunding platform known for its impact and accountability. With their support, we are confident we will reach our funding goal.

A Story of Hope: Aline’s Journey

Aline, age 10, is in 4th grade and lives with her grandmother. Without notebooks or pens, she used to attend school silently, unable to participate fully. Everything changed when she received a school kit. Aline now engages actively in class, her grades have improved, and she dreams of becoming a teacher.

Her story is proof of the real-life impact this project can make.

Long-Term Impact

This project is not a one-time handout—it is an investment in the future of an entire generation. By equipping 500 children with the tools they need to learn, we are:

  • Reducing school dropout rates
  • Improving academic performance
  • Breaking the cycle of poverty
  • Raising a generation of educated, empowered youth

Each donation is a seed of hope, helping to build a more equitable DRC.

Budget Summary

  • Purchase of 500 school kits
  • Logistics and distribution
  • Coordination and follow-up

Estimated Total: $13,500

Even a small contribution can provide a complete kit for one child.
