The Women in Entrepreneurship Programme equips rural women in South Africa with skills in sustainable farming, food processing, and small business development. Through hands-on training and mentorship, participants learn to grow, produce, and sell food products. This programme helps women generate income, reduce food insecurity, and build resilient local economies.
Women in rural South Africa face high unemployment, food insecurity, and limited access to skills, resources, and markets. Many already grow food or sell small products but lack the training and support to turn these activities into sustainable businesses. As a result, families remain vulnerable to poverty, hunger, and economic instability, while local food production and income opportunities remain underdeveloped
The Women in Entrepreneurship Programme equips women with practical skills in food production, agro-processing, and business development. Through hands-on training and mentorship, participants learn how to grow, process, package, and sell products while building confidence and business knowledge. This helps women start income-generating enterprises, improve household food security, reduce food waste, and strengthen local markets and community resilience.
In the long term, the programme helps women build sustainable food businesses that continue generating income beyond the training period. With practical skills, mentorship, and basic start-up equipment, participants are better positioned to launch and grow micro-enterprises. This creates stronger household income, improved food security, reduced dependency, and resilient local economies, while empowering women to become community leaders and job creators.
