The project is designed to contribute to the improvement of young people's lives through Micro Entrepreneurship and community based sustainable skills in Agriculture for 10,000 rural unemployed youths in 10 years. It aims to empower both in and out of school rural youths with Vocational Skills in Market gardening, Poultry production and Fishing which will reduce poverty and keep them out of current dangers (HIV/AIDS, Early pregnancy , child/early marriage and recruitment into armed groups).
Of it 28million people, 70% of Cameroonian population are young people below 30 years of age, with about 60% living in rural areas, and face challenges of unemployment, poverty and poor health due lack of Vocational training services and entrepreneurship opportunities, which have the devastating potential to create a severe economic impact. Young people have straggled with life since the unprecedented economic crisis suffered in the 1990s and the COVID-19 and need a hand that can support them.
The project will support micro-enterprises for 10,000 rural unemployed and unskilled youths by providing training on topics ranging from, market gardening, aquaculture, environmental management, livestock farming and artisanal fishing in order to promote self-employment and local employment, because it's projected that Cameroon will not be able to generate enough jobs for those entering the labor market during and after the post conflict recovery in regions affected by armed conflict.
The project will train 1000 rural youths both In/Out of school annually, on community based sustainable skills in agriculture, fishing and livestock production, allowing them to come out of poverty which will provide for their self and community development and increase gross domestic product. Young people will find useful employment in agriculture, fishing and livestock sectors in villages which will reduce rural exodus and illegal migration and high crime wave in cities.
