Entrepreneuship and Savings has the goal to allow underprivileged students to improve their economic and social reality through practicing financial skills according to their age. This project is implemented by EDUCA since 2010. The project is implemented in 27 non-profit schools in 10 different states of Mexico. The target population is 4,354 students from elementary to high school (6 to 18 years old) from low income families in Mexico.
The families of schools supported by EDUCA do not prepare personal or family budgets. Students have low financial skills. Only 37% of students showed a desirable level of financial knowledge, the rest (63%) did not reach the minimum level. 77% of the students did not show skills for designing a budget, 87% of students are below the minimum desirable level for establishing financial goals, and 23% of them demonstrated skills for making financial decisions regarding their available resources.
The Entrepreneurship and Savings Intervention Model is designed to improve the economic and social reality of children and teenagers. To achieve this, we provide 20-24 hours of school classes to review the contents of the project, training to teachers, materials such as workbooks and teachers guides, specialized workshops for students and teachers and we close the project with a Fair, where students can pitch their entrepreneurships they designed during the school year.
4354 students with strengthened financial skills to efficiently manage their resources, prepare budgets, save, using financial services and instruments, strengthen their assets and achieve financial health. Also, schools will get building capacity with their teachers trained and able to continue de project.
