Dear Donors,

During this quarter we received $630 as  donations and $400 donations were made by you and yet to be received. There is already a balance of $822. With this amount we supported 12 ex child labour children. 30 children including 25 ex child labour children were supported on 24.06.2017, on which day the silver jubilee of our organisation began. It was a proud as well as a heartwarming moment. The function was a grand success and everyone who attended the function wished our children and New Life a great future.

You will be happy to know that during this quarter 17 children have joined regular schools from the 104 children studying in the special schools during the last academic year. They wrote an exam to assess their eligibility to join regular schools. And 109 children are in our special schools this year.

Sundaram (name changed) is a 15 years old boy who is studying 10th standard in Selva Thamotharan Higher Secondary School in Kajapettai. He has a poor family background. His father was a painter and earned $92 per month. He is no more now. His mother is working as a house maid. Sundaram has 3 younger sisters. After his father’s death, his mother found it very difficult to take care of the family. To support her he stopped going to school five years back. He started working in a stickers shop for a wage of less than half a dollar/day.

Seeing Sundaram’s plight our special school teacher approached his mother and counselled her to send Sundaram to our special school. But Sundaram was not interested in studies. Our teaching staff put maximum efforts to make him study and the counsellor motivated him to study. Now he is good in  studies. After two years of motivation in our special school he was admitted to the regular school. Now he is in the 10th standard. He is talented in drawing. He wants to become an artist.

We gratefully remember each one of our supporters who helped us grow to this level. Without you all, this journey of 24 years would not have been possible. Keep supporting our children and help us celebrate the 25th year completion with much more satisfaction.

Kindly spread words about our good work and ask your friends and relatives to contribute to the noble cause. Let us work together to better the lives of once-upon child labourers.

With gratitude
